The Bugle Boy is an intimate concert hall housed in a World War II army
barracks located in La Grange, Texas. Since doors opened in January of 2005, The
Bugle Boy has rapidly become one of the premier listening rooms in the
country. Artists receive the
undivided attention of the audience, and the audience gets a live music
experience to
remember. The focus is on original,
independent singer/songwriters,
who perform folk, blues,
rock, jazz, swing and everything in between. In addition to
wonderful music, the
Bugle Boy offers coffee drinks, fine wines and beer, and is ALWAYS a
NON-SMOKING
establishment. Doors open 1 hour prior to performances.
What is a "Listening Room" you ask? It’s just what the name
implies- a space where you go to listen. Talking is not
permitted during a performance. A Listening Room environment
creates the best and most intimate experience that an artist can share
with an attentive audience. It’s like having a personal, live concert
in your own living room!
Artists who perform at The Bugle Boy have great things to say
about this special listening environment; our
audiences do too.
In 2008, The Bugle Boy began operating with the support of a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization, The Bugle Boy Foundation. If you'd like to protect the future of
this unique live music venue, and our various special projects supporting independent music, The
Bugle Boy Foundation would welcome your donation. And if you're interested in joining our crew of dedicated volunteers, please email our Volunteer Coordinator, Heather Eilers ().
The Bugle Boy takes its name from the Andrews Sisters' 1940's hit
"Boogie
Woogie Bugle Boy”. The barracks now housing the Bugle Boy originated at the
WWII Camp
Swift Infantry Base in Bastrop, Texas. In 1948, the La Grange Sons of
Hermann Lodge purchased the building from the U.S. Army and had
it relocated to La Grange where they conducted their meetings until
2004.
